England Win Ashes 2009
England managed to put it across Australia in the final test and celebrations have started in London already. It is a fitting farewell to Freddie Flintoff who always managed to capture the hearts of the crowd. What this defeat means to Australia? The Aussies have lost their crown and have already been pushed to fourth spot in the ICC rankings. Captain Ricky Ponting has the backing of the Australian Cricket Board but a second Ashes defeat in his career as Captain doesn't look good for history. To me Ponting is a great batsman and deserves honor among the best. But as a captain he is nothing special. He ruled the world with the army prepared by Steve Waugh and just when the big guns retired he couldn't manage to keep the team winning. He has to reinvent himself if he has any chance of proving to the world that he is a capable skipper and that he can a build a team for the future too.
